There is a moment every new golfer remembers. You pull into the lot, you see people with bags that look like they have been everywhere, and a little voice asks if you really belong here.

You do. Every golfer on this course once stood exactly where you are standing. Here is how to make your first round at Cypress Creek Golfers' Club feel easy, from booking to the last putt.

Book Your Tee Time

You can book online through the Book Tee Time link on our website or in the Cypress Creek mobile app. If you would rather talk it through, call the pro shop at (757) 365-4774. Tell us it is your first time. That is not a confession. It helps us help you.

A tip for beginners: quieter times on the tee sheet give you room to breathe. Ask us when those tend to be, and we will point you in the right direction.

Arrive Early and Check In

Plan to arrive a bit before your tee time. Check in at the pro shop, where our team will get you settled, answer questions, and send you off to the first tee. Arriving early also gives you time to loosen up on the range or roll a few putts, so your first swing of the day is not the one everyone is watching.

What to Bring

  • Clubs. You do not need a full set. A driver or hybrid, a couple of irons, a wedge, and a putter will carry you around just fine.

  • More golf balls than you think you need. Everyone loses a few. Everyone.

  • Tees, a ball marker, and a towel.

  • Water, sunscreen, and a hat.

  • Comfortable shoes and golf appropriate clothing. If you are not sure what that means, call us before you come.

On the Course: The Simple Etiquette

Golf has a lot of traditions, but the ones that matter most come down to respect and pace.

  • Keep up with the group ahead of you, not ahead of the group behind you.

  • Play ready golf. If you are ready and it is safe, go ahead and hit.

  • Pick up your ball when a hole gets away from you. There is no shame in it, and it keeps the day moving.

  • Stay quiet and still while others are hitting.

  • Repair your ball marks on the greens and rake the bunkers after you play out of them.

  • Shout "fore" if your ball is heading toward anyone. Loud and early.

Repairing ball marks and raking bunkers matters to us more than ever this year.

A Word About Our Greens

We will be honest with you, because that is how we do things here. Summer 2026 was hard on the course. Our team aerified, sanded, and fed the turf back to health, and it is getting better week by week. Every ball mark you fix and every divot you replace helps that recovery along. When you take care of the course, it takes care of the next golfer, too.

Keep It Fun

Nobody shoots their best score in their first round. Count your strokes if you want to, or do not count them at all. Celebrate the one great shot. There is always one, and it is the one that brings you back.

When you finish, come in and sit a while. Creekside Landing is right here at the club, and there is no better place to tell the story of that one great shot.

We Are Glad You Are Here

Questions before your first round? Call the pro shop at (757) 365-4774 or stop in and say hello. We would love to meet you, and we will be watching for you on the first tee.
